Enterprise architecture in the U.S. federal government owes its impact to a great deal of legislation that created specific mandates that require it. This legislation cites EA “as a key tool for performing enterprise-level strategic planning” (Treasury Enterprise Architecture Framework, CIO Officer Council, 2000, pg 8). The major legislation and guidance for EA including the following:
