Chapter 10 Using Metadata > Adding Metadata

Adding Metadata

Now it’s time to populate the Description field that we’ve been referring to. This will be the metadata that users are looking for in Explorer. In this example, we add metadata to the Product model.

CAUTION

You cannot create a package of the Metadata model to deploy to a production environment from a test environment; if you want to keep the changes you make to this model, use the production instance of your MDS installation.

1. On the Master Data Manager home page, select the Metadata model and Version 1. Then click Explorer.

2. On the menu bar, choose Entities | Model Metadata Definition. The models are displayed in a grid. Each model has a code, based on the order in which it was created. In this example, you can see that the first and third models that were created were deleted, because none of the models has a code of 1 or 3.
