Chapter 11 Implementing Security > Testing Permissions

Testing Permissions

As you begin assigning permissions to groups, you’ll quickly realize that it would be great to log in as the user and confirm that they have the access you intended them to have. You can do this by creating a test user or group and assigning permissions to it. Then you can access the Master Data Manager web application by using the credentials of the test user and view the data that the user views.

To have Internet Explorer prompt you for credentials when you open an intranet site like Master Data Manager, you can change IE’s security settings. Open IE and choose Tools | Internet Options. On the Security tab, ensure that Local intranet is selected and click the Custom level button. Scroll to the bottom, and in the User Authentication section, click the “Prompt for user name and password” option.
