Keep Your Network Degunked

Now that your network is healthy again (and I’m also hoping it’s been reborn and is being controlled by your leanest, meanest, Windows 7 machine), it’s important you learn how to keep it that way. There’s not much to do here; as you know, once a network is up and running, it can go years without issues, especially if you leave it alone. It can collect gunk, though; for instance, if you connect to lots of wireless networks and have a list of them a mile long! You have to clean that up. Also, cables can get crimped; wireless access points can become repositioned; routers can get dusty; and ports can get gunked up (literally). For the most part, though, a network is pretty stable, once it’s set up properly.
