You have devices you connect to your computer that, once connected, depending on the device and the settings you have previously (and likely haphazardly) configured, cause various applications, dialog boxes, and windows to open. I’m betting much of this is both a nuisance and unnecessary. Gunk.
Once you’ve dealt with the unnecessary tasks involved with connecting devices (closing windows, applications, and/or dialog boxes, for instance), a software program may automatically open and sync the device for you (as is the case with iTunes and Zune software). What syncs may or may not be optimal, especially if your device has limited hard drive space. Data may be removed you want to keep, or things may be kept you no longer want. Gunk.
