Chapter 15. Special Crisis Management Risks > When You’re Targeted by Activists

When You’re Targeted by Activists

As more and more special interest groups become more expert at using the Internet to advance their causes, more and more companies and organizations, and indeed, entire industries, are being targeted by such threats and challenges every year.

While the most visible of these challenges typically take place at the national level, and are obligingly covered by the national media, activism (as a cause of crisis) can manifest itself even down to the local level. (Ask any city council that’s tried to build a playground on land the Sierra Club thought should remain “habitat.”)
