Crisis Prevention

Crisis management is not a single activity. There are, in fact, several levels of activity that fall under the umbrella term “crisis management.” They are, in the typical order of activities:

Crisis prevention

Crisis planning

Crisis training

Crisis response

Crisis recovery

This is the order of activities because generally one activity leads to the next. We’ll look at each of these in turn, and some others, but in this chapter our focus is on crisis prevention.

Crisis prevention The examination of organizational operations under threat-based scenarios in order to find and fix operational and communications weaknesses.
