Tips for Building Your Oracle HFM Application

Whether you are new to HFM or an experienced veteran, you will find a feature or two you can add to your application that will extend the value of your investment. There are many reasons you might not get every feature set up and configured exactly right. Even on the projects where things go very smoothly, you will always look back and want to change a thing or two. One of the most common concerns people have when looking to implement HFM is to be sure they are using the features the way they were meant to be used and using them to their maximum utility. As we discussed in Chapter 1, it is difficult to get everything built for the first phase. Also, if you consider that a project will take you between six to eight months, it is likely that an upgrade has been made available during your project. Or possibly, you have taken a while to absorb the changes the product has brought, or you might have an older version. Regardless of the reason, in this chapter we will cover key components of HFM, and tips for configuring them. If you are new to HFM, you should plan to have the Administrator Guide nearby. We’ll highlight the basics, but we won’t cover every setting. The product documentation does a good job of doing that.
