5 Data Integration and Testing > Data Loading Validations

Data Loading Validations

A common problem people have with all the different tools and overlapping functionality is choosing what tool they should be using for what. Many people who are experts with each tool don’t help in this regard because they often hear the question as “Can I do this?” and not “Should I do this?” As the old saying goes, if you are a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail.

A very common question is where the data validations should happen. You could have validations in HFM as part of Process Management, and you can have them in FDM as part of the loading process. But this seems redundant. Why not have these validations in one or the other? First, each offers validations but at different times. FDM validations should be done for loading the data. HFM validations should be focused on the consolidation.
