Oracle HFM Errors and Common Causes > Windows Interface Errors

Windows Interface Errors

As you navigate around HFM, some of the messages you get will be very intuitive. You might get a message “Member already exists,” for example, when trying to add metadata with the same label. The system won’t let you do that, and the message is exactly what you would expect. It is my hope that these messages will at least get you in the right direction, and give you more information to get your application back up and healthy.

Unexpected Error: 8004023B

What it means This message would appear when loading or extracting metadata from the HFM application. This usually means there was some problem with a previous file loaded, and it has created a problem with the tables that prevents you from extracting or loading the metadata. This message may also occur when you open metadata files with the WIN32 interface. If you get this error while trying to view the metadata file after extracting it, it may be a semicolon in a metadata description, or a character that could be construed as a field delimiter. Try saving the file in .xml format instead of an .app. If this works, it is because the XML provides proper escape codes around these characters. The following illustration shows an example.
