Step 4: Ensuring the Organization Delivers on What It Promised to the Job Candidate during the Hiring Process

This is the most important step of the recruiting process. If an organization does not follow through on what it originally communicated to new employees, they will quit, and the recruiting process will have to start over again.

More than 59 percent of all employees who leave an organization do so between six months and one year after their start date. Of those who stay, another 50 percent leave before two years of employment. This means nearly 80 percent of your employees never make it beyond the two-year mark! Employees who are paid by the hour have even lower retention rates. Industries such as restaurant and retail only retain half of hourly employees longer than three months.5 In critical financial times, the onboarding process requires greater significance. Having an effective attraction and retention action plan ensures that the people you spent countless hours recruiting and developing decide to stay with your organization well beyond the one-year mark.
