How Clusters Communicate

The WebLogic Server instances that make up a WebLogic cluster communicate directly with one another so as to coordinate their activities. When each server is started, it advertises that fact to all the other members of the clusters, commonly referred to as “peers.” Each of the cluster members keeps track of all of the other cluster members, and they all try to ensure that they have a consistent view of which servers are up and which are not. The members of the cluster combine the cluster configuration information as well as information about the current state of the cluster to negotiate who is the backup for whom.
