Use Connection Filters

Oracle recommends using connection filters in addition to network firewalls. Connection filters act as an additional way to restrict network traffic on the basic protocols and IP addresses. Connection filters are especially helpful when servers in a domain don't have to pass through a network to access other servers in that domain.
