Performing a Production Redeployment

You must ensure that both the original version that you're retiring and the new version that's replacing it have a version number. This is very important because you can't perform a side-by-side deployment if either of the applications is nonversioned. Once you version the applications, you'll be able to deploy both versions simultaneously until you switch the old version with the new one. You can simultaneous deploy only two versions of an application.

Assigning a Version Identifier

You can assign a version identifier to an application by specifying the appversion option when deploying or redeploying an application. Since both the old and new versions need to be versioned, issue the weblogic.Deployer command as follows when you deploy any application into production:
