THE FIVE FACTORS OF DRIVE

In the next section, we’ve outlined the five primary elements of the successful business—and the businessperson—that continually reaches its goals. Conveniently, we call these elements the Five Factors of Drive. We hope you’ll use these thoughts to help you ensure that you’ll follow through and score.

Direction

First and foremost, you must have and work from a carefully developed plan that outlines specific goals. These goals could include a certain revenue number you’d like to hit or a particular client you’d like to land. The plan should include the details of what needs to be done (not what you hope will happen) to accomplish the desired outcome. Too many people embark on a mission with no forethought regarding what it will take to achieve their objectives. They often don’t think ahead of time about what actions will aid them or, even more important, what might prevent them from reaching their goals. Before you begin any journey, make sure you have mapped out a route and have equipped yourself with the tools necessary for achieving your desired results. It seems obvious, but a clearly defined direction keeps you focused on exactly where it is you need to go.
