Some Thoughts on Good Leadership

Developing my leadership style has been an ongoing process during my entire working life. For a long time, it was a very unconscious process. During a period when I was younger, I tried to understand leadership by looking at others and reading books about leadership. This was quite overwhelming. So much wisdom, so many ideas. It created in me a sense of insufficiency and frustration. Living up to the requirements of a good leader seemed unachievable.

Here are some truths that have helped me get a foothold on my leadership and feel okay about it:

• There is no such thing as a perfect leader or role model. Different situations and different people require different types of leadership.

• Being charismatic is not necessary to be a good leader.
