Building strong values and a vision with a social ambition will help you improve not only the profitability but also help you gain respect and trust among the society at large. You will be competitive in the labor market, and you will be able to recruit, motivate, and retain the best people. As previously discussed, most people want more from work than just a paycheck. They want true meaning in what they do, and they want to work with people who share their values.

If you have the best people and they are motivated, business results will necessarily follow. A vision with a social ambition is key to making your commitment to be a good company credible. It is also important, in my opinion, that the core values of the company are not only customer related or efficiency related. They have to speak to what fundamentally motivates people, such as recognition and trust. These could be values such honesty, respect, equality, openness, and fairness. I know this is difficult to quantify, but in the long run I am confident it will pay off.
