The same colors, fonts, branding, and so on should be used throughout -- whether on conventional signs or on digital signs. Good visibility is important. Appropriately contrasting colors, high brightness and contrast, and a good viewing angle are all essential. Signs are "always on." The information that someone is looking for needs to be there, visible, in the few seconds they happen to be looking for it. A digital sign rotating around multiple screens full of information (or playing a video) needs to be used carefully if it contains information that people might miss if it is not being displayed at the moment they need it. If you need to display more information than can fit on one sign, use more than one sign.
