CHAPTER Rule statement templates and subtemplates 9 This chapter lists all the rule statement templates and subtemplates that can be used as the basis for rule statements and provides guidance as to their use. Each template in this chapter is designed as the pro forma for rule statements for a particular type of rule listed in Section 4.9 in Chapter 4. A template is a string of symbols, each of which is either included in the generated rule statement or used to establish the form of the generated rule statement in some way. The various types of symbols used in the templates are described in Section 9.1.1 and its subsections. The templates and subtemplates in this book are depicted using the same sans serif font as is used for rule statements and fact types. Each template is given a unique identifier starting with the letter `T' while each subtemplate is given a unique identifier starting with the letter `S'.
