3.6. Examples and Illustrations

To make these concepts more concrete, I’ll introduce three examples of software factory approaches from real-world situations. In the first example, I look at how IBM is applying an application assembly approach to global software delivery. In the second example, I focus on one key area of enterprise software delivery—software testing—and I examine how specialized software testing factories are being used to optimize the testing process. In the third example, I look at a large financial services organization that is delivering a major insurance solution platform for deployment in locations around the world, using a software factory approach to delivery and maintenance.
