Interpretive

17.44

Location: The final image from this sequence also appeared in Chapter 9, “Reflections.” Let’s go over how it was constructed. To obtain a wide variety of poses in a single photo shoot, it’s a good idea to throw one or two interpretive photos into the mix. With an interpretive photo, people can interpret it however they please. It’s deliberately open-ended, and it creates more questions than it answers.

With a little imagination and some practice under your belt, you can create an interpretive photo anywhere. In this case, there was not enough natural light when the photo was taken, so I used an off-camera flash and the wireless Canon ST-E2 transmitter to simulate window light on the bride.

Expression: I took this photo but I wasn’t feeling it. There was too much space on the right and the expressions were not working. However, I did like how my flash illuminated the bride, and how the unlit groom created a silhouette.
