Commentary In Rule #224 we discussed why you should ensure that images are 300ppi before you import them to a layout. In addition to this, you should ensure that the scale of the image does not increase beyond an acceptable amount once it has been placed. The rule that we are applying here is, never bigger than 105 percent. This is due to the fact that, as you increase the scale of the placed image, you are in effect decreasing its resolution, and therefore its quality. For example, if I place a 300ppi image at 150 percent, the image has increased by 50 percent in size over the original, or you could say the original takes up two-thirds the width of the scaled image. This now means that the resolution of the scaled image when output has decreased is....PD
