Commentary Every designer has faced a situation when a client insists the color of the printed piece is wrong. The client is convinced they saw a proof that was perfect, and now the color is wrong. There are several reasons why this could occur: First, clients remember what they want to remember. Save the proof and show the comparison. Second, the printer made an error. Go on press on each job to verify the correct color. And third, the color proofs were on the wrong paper stock. The designer showed the client proofs on a white-coated stock, and the job printed on an uncoated cream stock. The solution is simple; always show the client proofs on the correct, or similar stock.
