314: Thou shall not accept what a printer tells you is possible without solid proof

Commentary I’m very fortunate to work with some brilliant printers whose expertise and diligence make them invaluable collaborators. However, there have been many occasions when the supplier has been chosen for me by the client. Usually, this relationship is professional and productive, but, because you are not holding the “purse-strings,” it can be a challenge to get the best results. Even though both parties are working toward the same objective—keeping the client happy—the designer and printer may not share the same priorities. This is where a little perseverance goes a long way. A situation may occur in which you want to make an adjustment to the artwork to improve its appearance but you are told by the printer that it is not possible. Don’t tak....PD
