What Is Carousel?

At first glance, you might think Carousel is just another flavor of photo-sharing software, but it is actually a bit more than that. Carousel is an entire computing platform that consists of the local application running on your Mac, iPad, or iPhone that is connected to a network of computers (often referred to as the cloud; see sidebar) that allow for the seamless sharing of photos and data between all of your devices when they are connected to the Internet.

As a platform, Carousel allows you to view and share your photos with friends and family, grants anyone with access to your carousel the ability to adjust, edit, and/or tweak those photos (an important point to keep in mind when sharing), and automatically keeps all of that data synced across all of your devices practically in real time. That is where it gets really powerful and interesting.
