One of the greatest leaps forward in Photoshop for designers is the ability to create and manipulate 3D objects, including 3D text. Here, we’ll explore how you can create dramatic effects with 3D text and lights using the Repoussé feature. With some experimentation, this feature can take you on a creative path to all new possibilities.
STEP ONE:
Here, we’re going to do two things: first, we’ll set up the background image in 3D, and then we’ll define a texture material from the background image to later apply to some text. So, open the background image shown here and make a duplicate of the Background layer by pressing Command-J (PC: Ctrl-J). Then, go under the 3D menu and choose New 3D Postcard From Layer. This will put the 2D flat image in a 3D space.
