Text Rules: Don’t Put Two or More...

These are my favorite pet peeves. These are the leftovers from when we used to write with typewriters. I don’t know if the problem is that people think these actions make the text look better or their fingers are so used to typing these mistakes that they can’t help themselves.

I can only hope that as the years go on, the habits of those who are still typing as if they are using an old Royal will eventually die out.

...Spaces at the end of a sentence

This one definitely comes from the typewriter days. Back then, if you were using a monospaced font such as Courier, it could be difficult to tell where the end of a sentence was located. So typists learned to put two spaces after periods and other punctuation marks at the end of sentences.
