image

If you’re working out and this really great track comes on that gets you totally pumped, and you think to yourself, “I wish I had a playlist of more stuff like this,” well, your Music app can automatically search through your songs and create a playlist based on that track you’re listening to. You just tap on the atom-looking icon that appears onscreen when you tap on the album art of the song playing. Of course, you don’t have to have a song playing to make a Genius playlist: just tap on the Playlists button at the bottom of the screen, then tap on Genius Playlist up at the top of the list, and it will bring up the list of songs in your Music app. For example, if I tapped on “Bad Medicine” by Bon Jovi (hey, I like Bon Jovi) in my (Scott’s) Music app, it would make a 25-song playlist and include songs like “Shake Me” by Cinderella, “Let It Go” by Def Leppard, “Little Suzi” by Tesla, “18 and Life” by Skid Row, and so on. By the way, once it has created a Genius playlist for you, it starts playing it right away, but if you tap the Back arrow at the top left of the screen, it’ll not only display the songs in the Genius playlist, but it’ll give you three buttons across the top: tap New to create a totally new Genius playlist; tap Refresh if you don’t like the playlist it created and you want it to try a....Note: In order to use this feature, you must have the Genius feature turned on in iTunes on your computer. Once you sync your iPhone to your computer with the Genius feature enabled, you’ll be able to create Genius playlists directly on your iPhone.)
