Chapter Fifteen. Setting Me Off: The Ins... > Your iPhone’s General Settings

Your iPhone’s General Settings

image

In the General settings screen in the Settings app, tapping About gives you almost all the information you could need about your iPhone. You’ll find things like the number of songs, videos, and photos that you have, as well as the amount of available space, serial number of your iPhone, software version, and firmware version. You’ll also find the MAC addresses for the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips. You’ll find a button to turn Bluetooth on and pair it with your headset or car kit, and in the Keyboard screen, you’ll be able to turn on the Enable Caps Lock function (boy was I happy to find that one). You can even set up a four-digit password that would have to be typed in to unlock your iPhone. For those needing to set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection to access their corporate network, you would do that on the Network screen (you’ll need the VPN settings from your company’s IT department). Lastly, if you have a teenager with an iPhone, you can set up some restrictions here by tapping Restrictions. See Chapter 10 for more on Restrictions settings.
