Adding a Pause

If you’re calling a number and you need to enter an extension (account number, PIN, etc.), you can add those pauses and additional numbers directly to your contact’s Info screen. Tap on the Phone app, then tap on Contacts to bring up your contacts list. Tap on the contact that needs the additional string of numbers and pauses. Tap the Edit button in the top right of the screen, tap on the phone number that you need to edit, and tap the symbol key (+*#) at the bottom left of the keyboard. This will change the 4 key to a Pause key. Now you can tap the Pause key to enter a two-second pause, and then type the next string of numbers. If you need a longer pause, just continue to tap the Pause key for as many two-second pauses as you need. You can also add a hard pause by tapping the Wait key. This causes the iPhone to pause and wait until you tap the Dial button to send the numbers. Once you’re done, tap Done at the top right of the screen to save the number and the contact’s changes.
