Lesson 3: An Honest Mirror Is a Valuable Asset

We’ve established that neither the Queen nor Snow White is a dependable model for how to secure your future. For that, we need to look to the Mirror.

I think we can all agree that the Evil Queen’s maniacal fixation on her mirror had its flaws. But let’s not blame the mirror. A healthy—and honest—habit of self evaluation is perhaps one of the best ways to keep your finances on the right track.

There’s a right way and a wrong way to look at yourself when it comes to your money.

“Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” you may ask, expecting that no matter what decisions you’ve made with your money, you deserve that reassuring, “You are the fairest.” You may even pretend that you hear it so you have license to continue with your current plan or lack of it.
