Lesson 13. Audiobooks and iTunes Match > Force-Matching Audiobooks

Force-Matching Audiobooks

Here’s how to get iTunes Match to match your audiobooks:

1. First, click the audiobook in question in iTunes.

2. Choose Get Info from the File menu.

3. Click the Options tab.

4. Set Media Kind to Music (see Figure 13.2).

Figure 13.2 No matter what, you must lie to iTunes and tell it that your audiobook is a music file. Otherwise, iTunes Match never acknowledges its existence.

5. Still within the Get Info screen, click the Info tab and set the Genre field to Audiobook. That way, you still have an easy way to identify those audiobooks that you sneakily mark as Music so that iTunes Match gives them an opportunity to be matched.

After you identify the audiobook as music, iTunes Match might add your track. But, that depends on how large the file is and what bit rate was used to initially encode the track.
