Lesson 6. iTunes Match on iOS: Advanced - Pg. 60

LESSON 6 iTunes Match on iOS: Advanced You've mastered the basics. Now, become an iTunes Match power user with your iOS device. In this lesson, you learn about "pre-sweetening" your iOS device with songs you don't want to download from the cloud. You also learn how to manage your data usage, and how to use iTunes Match in tandem with iOS accessories. Pre-Sweetening As discussed in the previous lesson, your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch knows which songs are already on it. So, after you turn on iTunes Match, despite the error message that doing so will replace your library, your iPhone recognizes that it already has copies of the songs from your Match library that were on your phone to begin with. When you turn on iTunes Match, your iPhone no longer syncs music di- rectly from your Mac or PC. When you look at the Music tab in iTunes while syncing your device, you see a message that music syncing is now handled via iCloud because iTunes Match is turned on (see Figure 6.1).
