6 Layers, Symbols and Keyframes > Naming Symbols - Pg. 82

THE FOCAL EASY GUIDE TO MACROMEDIA FLASH 8 If you want to hold on a keyframe for more than one frame without any changes taking place, then you don't need to insert any more keyframes, but to use frames instead. So, frames are used when you want to have a piece of artwork that is not changing at that point in time. To insert frames, click on where you want them to end on the Timeline and then choose Insert or hit F5 on the keyboard. Timeline Frame Naming Symbols When you create an instance of a symbol, by dragging a copy of a symbol onto the Stage, it is given a default name by Flash. If you make several copies of one button symbol, you should give each one a name related to its function. This will help you to remember what it does. You can do this in the Properties Inspector. It is good practice to name all button symbols with the prefix `btn' for example btnBack or btnPlay . This will help you or any programmers that you may be working with to quickly identify the type of symbol that is being used.
