FOREWORD The day's e-mails contain a name I haven't seen for awhile. With a smile I recall Sam McGuire, a top student in the recording program here at BYU just a few short years ago. While most graduates can't wait to enter the world of work-- usually finding a staff engineer position or opening a modest project studio--Sam surprised all of us by skipping all that and heading straight to Colorado for graduate work in audio engineering at the University of Colorado Denver. Not only was Denver a good academic fit for someone coming from BYU (both programs reside in the School of Music and require a solid musical grounding as well as rigorous work in the related technology), but this choice would also put Sam in direct contact with Roy Pritts. As the new millennium dawned, Roy Pritts was arguably the most visible national personality promoting audio education
