THE F O C A L E A S Y GUID E TO FINAL C UT PRO 7 Methods of Output Now that we have talked about output and codecs it is time to move into action and go through the steps needed to output. There are five methods of output that need to be understood: 1 2 3 4 5 QuickTime Movie. QuickTime Conversion. Compressor. Share ­ enables output to DVD, Blu-ray, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, and provides a gateway to Compressor. Print to Video ­ for tape-based output. Export to ProRes Using QuickTime Movie 1 Highlight the file or Sequence you wish to convert in the Browser of Final Cut Pro. Clear `in' and `out' points in the clip or Sequence, otherwise these will define the duration of the section being exported. 2 3 Choose File and then Export QuickTime Movie. Click where Current Settings is displayed and a drop-down menu will appear. Here you have a list of settings to choose from including different sizes and frame- rates. Choose the ProRes setting to which you wish to encode your video. At the top of the window that now appears you should name your file and choose where you wish the file to be saved.
