CHAPTER Intermediate Sequencing Techniques 3 3.1 IntrODuCtIOn What you learned in the first two chapters has given you a solid background and a basic knowledge of sequencing. By now you should have a good idea about the potential offered by the tools you are using and how they can inspire your creativity and improve your productions. If what you learned in Chapter 2 provided you with enough information and skills to start sequencing, in this chapter you will gain a deeper knowledge of more advanced sequencing techniques and tools, such as groove quantization options, MIDI channel layering, audio and MIDI track layering, editing techniques, and how to use and program tempo changes. In the second part of this chapter you will learn about the practical aspects of sequencer-based production and project management, such as backup and archiving techniques. Before continuing with this chapter, make sure you are familiar with all the concepts presented in Chapter 2. Master the basic techniques introduced in that chapter, and use the exercises listed at the
