Binary-Coded Decimal Notation > Binary-Coded Decimal Notation - Pg. 131

Chapter 14 · Numbering Systems 131 To further clarify, here are a few examples of some hex numbers and their decimal equiva- lents: Decimal 000 001 015 016 127 255 256 512 4095 Hex 00 01 0F 10 7F FF 100 200 FFF As shown above, 01 and 10 could be decimal, hex, or even binary. In this book, numbers are assumed to be base 10, unless I have appended a subscript notation after the number to indicate the base. For example, a subscript of 2 indicates a binary number, while 16 indicates hex. For example, 01 binary would be shown as 01 2 , while 01 hex would be shown as 01 16. In programming, you may also see notation like 0x preceding a hex number, or you may see an upper- or lower-case "h" (h or H) appended to the number. But they all mean the same thing: the number is hexadecimal.
