Part 1: Introduction This section offers a brief overview of control concepts that are common to all of entertainment control. If you are experienced in our industry, the terms and concepts discussed here may seem obvious. However, I encour- age you to at least skim through the section, since some concepts may be new, or new to you. In addition, you may wonder why I discuss here, in formal and abstract ways, concepts such as "cues," which we take for granted in our industry. Much of this book is about implementing systems in computers, and these systems, of course, can't take anything for granted. So, we need to make these concepts explicit in order to understand and implement them.
