Chapter 13 The Light Cue Level Setting Session and Technical Rehearsals InTRoduCTIon This chapter examines some of the events that take place during the light cue level setting session and the technical rehearsals. Although they are two distinct events, for the purposes of this text, they have been combined into a single chapter. That's based on the perception that, once the lighting designer begins to create and modify the cues, the activity doesn't stop until opening night. and the console operator executes those directions. Depending on the complexity of the show, there may be one or more assistants recording different fac- ets of the action. One assistant may be assigned to record each of the different cues and actions of the lighting console onto light cue sheets, while a second assistant may be recording the choreography of the followspots on the followspot cue sheets. Out of that pair, someone is keeping track of the work notes. The stage manager is present to confirm the placement and timing of each cue in the call book, and to keep the process moving. It's rare for the direct or not to
