Chapter 14 The Performance InTroducTIon This chapter examines the typical sequence of events that surround the performance, beginning with pre- show checks, followed by a preset of the technical elements involved in the production. After the final preshow checks, the performance begins. At the con- clusion of the first act, several changes may occur during the intermission. After the conclusion of the performance, meet- ings may occur to exchange and discuss observations made during the show. Generally, these observations of directing preshow focuses and overseeing inter- mission activities, the designer takes a step back and watches, to make sure that the lighting design will be properly executed once he or she is no longer actively participating in the show.
