Instruments These would be the real world or electric instruments described above. For versatility and variety, you can't beat the digital domain, since MIDI (more on MIDI ahead) lets you convincingly emulate almost any instrument (except maybe vocals and guitars). Even guitar amps can be reliably emulated by amp modeling software and/or hardware like the Line 6 Pod (see Appendix C, Recording Process and Gear List for more on the Pod), so you can record extremely convincing guitar parts without disturbing the neighbors. a computer
