Chapter 5: Soft Goods - Pg. 49

CHAPTER 5 Soft Goods Every stagehand should have a good working knowledge of stage draperies. Curtains are used for just about any show that you can think of, because without them the audience would see all of the magic happening backstage. The term soft goods is often used to indicate scenery made from fabric, as opposed to wood or steel. Different types of curtains are intended for use in specific situations. This chapter is a discussion of those different types, as well as con- struction methods, and the working practices used to hang stage curtains and other fabric scenery. The terms curtains and drapes are interchangeable.
