Chapter 10 Talent: Working with Talent, ... > On-Camera Training and Presentation ... - Pg. 133

Chapter 10 TALENT 133 go unnoticed. Thanks to high-definition, however, skin imper- fections are reproduced all too accurately. The corporate video manager should consider writing into the budget funds to con- tract with a makeup artist. The makeup artist should have expe- rience with television makeup, which is a very different process from makeup for the stage or still photography. Television works best with a natural look, and TV makeup artists like using pancake makeup. It creates a smooth look to the skin. They add powder to create a matte texture that avoids reflections from lights. Concealer is used for individual blemishes, and a little blush helps add color, especially to light- skinned talent. This works for both men and women. Women usually can apply makeup at home, and they may bring some materials to the set. Men rarely wear makeup, so if a man will appear on-camera, that is a reason to hire a makeup artist. In addition to pancake makeup and concealer on a man, sometimes the makeup artist will add a subtle touch of eyeliner and even a bit of lipstick. The trick to any makeup application is to make it unnoticeable.
