108 Chapter 8 CORPORATE SCRIPTWRITING write a "treatment." The treatment is a document that describes the concepts of the video and details sequentially the scenes the viewer will see. The scriptwriter explains how he or she plans to treat the subject by outlining, usually in paragraph form, what the viewer sees and hears first, what happens next, and so on. The treatment incorporates the research that the writer con- ducted, combined with the ideas that came from a brainstorm- ing session. The concepts are written with visual details, and keywords and facts are included. The writer presents the written treatment to the producer or manager for approval. You may wish to divide your video script into acts or scenes, especially if there are segments taking place at different loca- tions. Describe the locations with as much detail as necessary. You want the people who read the treatment to be able to visu- alize what you have in mind so later, when they read the script, they won't be surprised. Present each segment chronologically. What do we see first? How do we introduce the viewer to the setting? What action takes place? What do the people look like? What will they be
