8 Key Poses 2 Blocking Blocking f102 1 HE STORYTELLING POSES ARE DONE, so now let's add the next pass of key poses. We'll do four more poses: the hands planting in the handspring, the flip, landing, and the end pose. These describe the parts of the animation where the movement changes. Once he does his leap (the third pose from the previous cheat), he's going to continue that movement until something changes the momentum, which is landing on his hands. The new motion that happens next is his feet leading his body in the second jump. He'll continue through that jump until he lands, at the last pose. T We're going to need to make camera adjustments, so press the select camera button. Go to f102 and press s to set a key on the camera. This will lock it in position up until this frame. f104 4 Use the SA middle mouse drag to continue the camera pan with this pose, and set a key on the camera. f106 Working in passes, which means starting as broad as possible and adding detail each time through subsequently, is a good approach to computer animation. It makes it easy to refine things as you work, and making changes is simpler because you're not bogged down in detail. We'll also block some camera positioning, since it became clear we need to track the camera with the character as he does his acrobatics. For the next pose at f106, I'll do the camera pan first to give myself some room. Use the same method as in previous steps. 7 184
