I am having trouble getting started Has your test preparation ground to a halt? Or maybe you haven't even managed to get started yet. Why not try a SWOT analysis to show how far you have come already and where you need to go? A SWOT analysis is a tool often used in business for strategic planning. This might sound intimidating, but it is really just a list. Four lists, in fact: Strengths; Weaknesses; Opportunities; Threats. For example, the threat of failing the test if you don't start practising soon! Here are a few other suggestions for a SWOT analysis: Strengths: G G You've bought this book with the intention to read it and improve. Time is on your side ­ don't waste a second more ­ start practising right away. There is one section of the test that you are dreading. There you go ­ start your practice on that area of the test now. You know that you never got the hang of fractions or reading from complex graphs. Better focus your practice on precisely those questions. Turn off the TV in the evening or at weekends. Then you can use that time to practise. Set aside your lunch break to practise, or get up half an hour earlier if you work best in the morning. You don't spend enough time preparing in advance. Weaknesses: G G Opportunities: G G Threats: G
