Coach or controller? What is this about and why is it important? There will be many situations in which you need to support the work of your staff. Problems will arise, barriers will occur which team members cannot see their way around, instructions will be misinterpreted, progress will be too slow, and the quality of work will not be as required. In each of these cases there will be a need for a management intervention. There will also be, from time to time, interpersonal issues between members of the team. Often it is best if you do not get involved in these, leaving them to team members to resolve.
