I ran this for one merchant as an Every-Third-Sale Gifts campaign and announced that the gifts given away were worth $20+. The merchant did not really spend more than $7.50 on each of them, but a $20 gift is obviously accepted better than one that is worth only $7.50. It is a good way to stimulate sales, and it also allows the merchant to get rid of certain items. Additionally, it is an original way to award your affiliates. You are giving away $20 gifts instead of the $7.50 cash bonus that would basically be an equal deal for you (but not for the affiliate!). Cash for Everything: CAIs, FSBs, and So On CAI stands for cash activation incentive, while FSB is the first sale bonus abbreviation. It is a good idea to constantly run these for your program. They should be announced right in the first email each affiliate gets from you--the approval email. I have discussed these before (without abbreviating them), so I will not spend much time on them here. What I want to suggest is that every once in a while you run a Cash for Everything Week. Such promotions obviously catch an amount of affiliate atten- tion that can be beaten only by a 100 percent commission offer. During the Cash for Everything Week, give away CAIs to those who haven't put their links up yet, FSBs, second sale bonuses (SSBs), and bonuses for every sale. You may synergize this idea with the arithmetic progression bonuses idea and give away $5 for two links, $10 with the first sale, $15 on top of the second sale, and so on.
