The basic PUMP is the E&D shaping PUMP. The same seven-phase framework can be used for the design, operations and termination (DOT) shaping PUMP. However, the area of focus requires a different basic terminology and different criteria–plan relationship structures are involved. Further, the same basic PUMP with the same basic seven-phase structure can be used for the concept shaping PUMP, but the area of focus means that even more significant criteria–plan relationship structure changes are involved, along with different terminology, a different discipline base, and more obvious links to corporate strategy.
